"I knew lots of "things" about my forebears but Kathy was able to prove that all my "things" were factually correct! With Kathy's help I now know factually who my Grandad and Grandma were and am now in touch with and working on genealogy with a cousin."
"With painstaking research, Kathy discovered that my 5 x great grandfather was born in Dundee in 1788, moved to Whitby, via Northumberland, and was a sea captain; his ship was involved in whaling-they would go to the Arctic for several months, often iced in! He died at the grand old age of 92. She gave me copies of his indenture papers, photos of him with his family and also with a group of other sea captains, together with photos and the location of his home and his grave, as well as details about his ship. These had been supplied to her by a newly discovered distant cousin who had a trunk full of family memorabilia.
How amazing! I thought this type of thing only happened to people on the telly! Having Scottish blood was also a surprise!"
“My mum was not well. I asked Kathy if she would research her side of my family. Sadly, she passed away a few months later. But, I was really pleased that I had the opportunity to share the fabulous stories of our ancestors with her. She loved talking about the people she had known. We had never spoken about them before!
Would highly recommend Kathy.”
“When researching the provenance of an historic property which was in danger of being demolished, Kathy generously gave of her time and expertise at short notice. She provided a complete family tree in short order which augmented the social history of the building and which also illustrated the wider context of the evolution of the local hamlet.
This assistance proved to be an invaluable contribution to the successful preservation of the building for the foreseeable future.”

“I had tried to research my father’s family in the past but got stuck at an early stage!
With very little information-my surname, age and place of birth-Kathy started her research using the Jersey archive records and then managed to research my ancestors back to the 1600s. She identified that some of my ancestors originated in Ireland, Cornwall and Devon, which was a big surprise! All facts were supported with evidence.
After the ‘Big Reveal’ I said that I would like to know about my mother‘s family too.
This time, she managed to get back to the 1500s in Jersey. Again, all facts supported by evidence, earlier events with church records. Using Censuses, she told me what my ancestors did for a living and where they lived on the Island. Many of the properties are still there, which is great.
I did not have a clue that my Great Grandfather was the Station Master in Grouville in 1881. Nor that, in the same year, my Great-Great Grandmother, living with her two daughters and two granddaughters, was the Inn Keeper of the Golf Inn. Unusually, it was a woman only household. They were clearly ahead of the curve when it came to women’s lib!
It transpired that the Golf Inn later became the Royal Jersey Golf Club. Kathy found a book on the history of the Club and…. low and behold… there was a chapter called ‘The Nineteenth Hole’, which featured the ladies. How amazing!
My daughter and my grandchildren are coming to Jersey soon and I will look forward to telling them about Kathy's findings and visiting places where our ancestors lived.
I would have no hesitation in recommending Kathy. She is both professional and approachable, making the information incredibly interesting and, even, great fun."
“The only information I told Kathy was that I had a baby brother who died in Glasgow when I was about 12. She asked for my mother’s maiden name and said she would have a look to see what she could find.
I was astounded that, within one working day, she had provided me with a copy of the death record and, having consulted with her fellow members of the British and Scottish genealogy groups, a paper containing guidance as to where he may have been laid to rest. It was an incredibly emotional experience.
I cannot thank Kathy enough for her first class service. I would have no hesitation in recommending her.”
“Kathy is a combination of professional, diligent, and approachable. She makes family history both interesting and enjoyable. My family and I are now hooked!”
"I was astounded with Kathy's research….rather than just a tree with names and dates, she gave me detailed profiles and also evidence to back up the facts! My ancestors were brought to ‘life'. It is truly a unique legacy for my kids, grand kids and their families. Amazing!”
“I’ve known Kathy as a good and loyal friend for many years and was delighted when she offered to assist with my ill-educated attempts to delve into my ancestry. The up-shot was a huge success; she managed to combine her genuine knowledge, experience and efficiency with a warm enthusiasm and empathy - almost as though she was a family-member herself. The ‘reveal’ at the conclusion of her efforts was an interesting, fun and exciting event!
I was so pleased with the whole experience.”
“I had no idea we had any connections with the US, nor that any of our family were on the stage! Kathy discovered that my 3 x great aunt and her husband went to New York from England in the late 1800s, and that they even performed in vaudeville shows!
Kathy found photos, reviews and theatre posters. It turned out that they had (and we still do!) a big family in the US! We are now in contact with them. Who would have thought!”
