Fees and Disbursements
Our bespoke research services are tailored to meet your needs and budget, with flexible payment options available over the project timeline.
We value the special relationships we build with our Families, and we firmly believe in total transparency when it comes to fees. As such, we do our utmost to ensure that there are no surprises.
Fees
We offer two flexible fee options to suit all needs: Time Spent or Fixed Fee.
Time Spent
- Hourly Rate: £45 per hour
- Scope of Work: Agreed at the outset to ensure clarity
- Hourly Cap: A maximum number of hours would be set in advance to ensure that there is transparency
- Flexibility: Ideal for clients seeking specific, or limited, research tasks
- Deliverables: A comprehensive report of our results and findings
Fixed Fee
- From: £450 per direct ancestor; dependant on various circumstances such as the locations of ancestors, whether popular or unusual names are involved, the period being researched, how much information and records are held by the Family, and the availability of online records
- Comprehensive Research: Including detailed investigations using genealogy platforms, historical archives, and vital records e.g. civil birth, marriage and death
- Additional Fees for Specific Research:
- £150 per direct ancestor for military research, including Ministry of Defence requests
- £45 per child for partial research of birth, marriage, occupation details and interesting facts
- Deliverables:
- Comprehensive and vivid “Facts” and “LifeStory” profiles for each direct ancestor researched
- A concise project summary (e.g. “Smith Family History”)
- Access for you and your family to your ‘living’ online Tree and profiles
- A “Big Reveal” to present our findings
- Certainty: A transparent, all-inclusive fees structure with no hidden surprises
Disbursements
For both Time Spent and Fixed Fee projects, there may be instances where it is necessary for us to obtain records from third parties.
Examples are:
- Civil certificates (e.g. birth, marriage, and death records)
- Other records not available online (e.g. Probate)
- Specialist transcriptions (e.g. military, medical, or non-English language records)
These will be charged at cost.
Payment Plans
After a complimentary consultation to identify your research needs, we will provide a bespoke quotation.
A 10% deposit for agreed fees, plus a pre-payment for any identified disbursements, will be requested upon acceptance of the quotation.
The remaining balance of fees can then be spread over the project duration (usually three months), by way of a pre-agreed monthly payment plan.
Any additional work will be discussed and approved in advance, with the agreed fees charged on either a Time Spent or Fixed Fee basis.
Presentation Pack
Whilst your family tree is accessible online, and updated in real time, we would not normally print hard copies of the profiles, which can sometimes run to over 30 pages per direct ancestor!
The main reasons for this are that it is a "living" Tree, subject to change when new information is unearthed, and we want to ensure that our Families are viewing "real time" information at all times. Plus, we want to save the real trees! However, should it be required, we are happy to provide a hard copy pack for a small additional charge
Vouchers
Gift a unique experience, with a voucher to the value of your choice - perfect for those special occasions such as birthdays, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day or Christmas. Each voucher includes a complimentary consultation to explore the research needs, and showcase examples of our work.
Other Services
- Digitising and Cataloguing family photos and memorabilia for adding to your tree, designed to enhance your family history project
- Arranging DNA Testing including analysing the results
- Creating a bespoke Publication e.g. "Coffee Table" style book to showcase your family story
- EU Passport Applications including:
- Gathering relevant information and requisite documentation
- Ensuring the application is accurately completed and submitted
- Expert guidance throughout the process
